We hope you enjoy this collection of letter S activities for 2 year olds!
Okay, confession. This is a series for toddlers, but my little girl turned 3 a month ago. Real life gets in the way here – just as I suspect it does at your house! – so we didn’t finish the alphabet as soon as I’d hoped.
No worries, though – I’m keeping our activities simple so that you can still use them with 2-year-olds.
On to our fun from this week!
This was a fun fine motor activity – sliding beads onto dry spaghetti. We used homemade play dough as the base.
When I saw this alphabet activity on Busy Toddler, I knew it was one we’d have to do for letter S. We put our foam letters in the sink, and my daughter scooped them out with a ladle, naming them as she went. After she emptied the sink we put them back in so she could play again.
Do-a-dot pages are a great way to practice fine motor skills and letter recognition at the same time.
You can get these find the letter pages on my site. We haven’t spent much time on lowercase letters, but since both forms of S look the same, I knew she could find both on this page.
We did a lot of printed activities this week, so I knew we had to mix in some sensory fun, too. I threw dry beans into a container for a “seeds” sensory bin, and my daughter had a lot of fun pouring and digging.
This was a fun one! I wrote letters we’ve learned on scraps of paper and put them on the stairs. Then I asked my daughter to find each letter (one at a time) and bring it to me. Great exercise too!
Isn’t this cute? If you didn’t guess it already, this is a snail. We painted the shell one day and added the face the next.
We don’t do lacing cards very often, but with my help my toddler is finally getting the hang of this fun set from Melissa and Doug. If your toddler can’t do lacing cards yet, don’t worry about it. (Remember that my little girl is a little over three. None of my older kids could handle lacing cards as young two-year-olds.)
I forgot to take a picture of my letter cards and photos that you get for free in this post. Oh well! Download them below.
Letter T is coming soon!
Check out the rest of our series!
